Just got some wild news from WhytManga’s discord.

This is the most direct Whyt has ever been about the possibility of an anime adaptation.

Whyt has often said that an anime adaptation of “Apple Black” is a big goal. The most direct calls-to-action typically sounds like “if you buy the manga, we have a better chance of getting an anime” —it’s one of his countless non-promises that reminds you of how anime broadly operates.

But this? This is different.

We have a timeline for a possible announcement.

Please allow me, if you will, to unravel this like a thread of poetry.

2027 announcement is possible: Note that Whyt says “announcement.” Not the anime, an announcement for the anime. And tagging with “is possible” to, once again, soften the blow if this doesn’t come true.

This makes me believe he’s not pitching his IP to animation studios. If the anime’s quality hinges on manga sales, then I’m guessing he’s going the indie route and commissioning a team/studio to make the Apple Black anime real.

But if that’s the case— why wait until 2027?

Whyt recently had knee surgery, and instead of a gofund me he asked for supporters to buy the book (Source)

Is something similar happening here? Is he afraid a gofundme for the anime would cut into the manga sales?

In that case, manga sales must be dire.

Much like a good shonen manga, we’ll see how this arc plays out. For now, his reasons are shrouded in a complex web of motivations and secrets.

And y’know what, Opal looks like she’s shitting herself on that cover.

It looks like projectile shit. I’ve never heard anything about Opal being able to fly so I don’t know how else she could be buzzing around like that. The only thing I can think of is a monumental, diarrhea shit is propelling her forward. And that’s what I see on the cover. Shit. I hate it.

I’m looking forward to the anime in 2027, perhaps, possibly.
